Children's Health Insurance Program(CHIP)
The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is designed for families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid, yet cannot afford to buy private insurance for their children. CHIP coverage provides eligible children with coverage for a full range of health services including regular checkups, immunizations, prescription drugs, lab tests, X-rays, hospital visits and more.
Services:
- Durable Medical Equipment (DME) services are limited to $20,000 per 12-month period. Implantable devices do not count towards the DME 12-month period limit.
- Vision Services include one examination and one pair of non-prosthetic eyewear per 12-month period.
- Doctor, hospital, x-ray, and lab services
- Well-baby and well-child visits
- Immunizations
- Prescription drugs
- Case coordination and enhanced services for children with special health care needs and children with disabilities
- Physical/Speech/Occupational Therapy
- Home health
- Transplants
- Mental health
- Services that cover pre-existing conditions
